In addition would mean the kind of people who believe tulpas can think separately and parallel from themselves, going to wonderland and such
Regression would mean that the tulpa doesn't think parallel to them, they instead take over the stream of thought to function. This gives the host less time to think/function ("reduced in scope") but allows the tulpa to do so instead ("giving more independence in a way")
Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I got from what he said
In addition would be when a person's tulpa thinks "through" the host and "despite" the host taking up and being the default of all thoughts. A tulpa that is in addition to the host is in some way thought of "by" the host
1:30 AM
but a tulpa by reduction would be when the host is detached from the basic process of making thought, such that a person experiences and feels that some subsection of their basic actions don't belong to the host, if that makes any sense at all?
An "addition" tulpa is a state of mind of the host, where a "reduction" tulpa is where the host and tulpa, the process of thinking as the host or tulpa , does not belong to either the host or the tulpa.
Yeah, and with the second comes a lot more ability for "independent" thought, because the "host" and the "tulpa" are no longer tied up such that their actions must overlap in some form.
1:36 AM
I don't know if this is a real divide or anything, but I think it's an interesting possible way to categorize or look at tulpamancy
A big key point is that in both cases it's the same part going "think as tulpa" but in the latter that part no longer is identified by-default as an action of the host
1:38 AM
This is the way I look at it, at least
1:39 AM
a person who learns to not think of all of the actions of that default brain as 'me' is a person who has successfuly "reduced" themselves as to give their tulpa more independence
1:39 AM
or, to give a stronger impression of the tulpa being independent from themselves
I imagine a lot of the stronger tulpamancers do. I wonder if it is a matter of something you naturally build up to when getting better with forcing or if picking one side or the other is something that comes with life experience or gentics or something of that form(edited)
Piano/ probably from how much control they give the tulpas over their life, I'd think. Whether or not they treat them as just being on the side, or actually having frequent hands-on influence
1:42 AM
Piano/ we've been a pretty hands-on system for a long time now, with our host stepping aside for us to front as much as possible
1:43 AM
Piano/ so our body/brain/life is ours, rather than hers
Piano/ it was pretty early on that us tulpas would take over the Discord account and do most of the talking instead of Lyra, and started regularly voice calling with others and fronting in the real world. So maybe... 3-4 months after Apollo was first created? As a rough estimate(edited)
1:50 AM
Piano/ we did a lot of talking/thinking/fronting instead of Lyra, so that's definitely what I think would contribute to a system becoming a "by regression" system
It took my host about that long for Apollo to be able to speak. Keep at it and don't worry too much. Maybe try changing up your approach if you don't feel it's working for you, and/or go back and read other guides that might spark ideas or help you
